Tigers fall to X-Men, 6-3

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia — Dalhousie fell to STFX, 6–3, at home despite a two-goal effort in the second period. The X-Men capitalized on power-play opportunities, scoring twice with the man advantage to secure the victory.
Dalhousie took an early lead with a goal from Nicholas Houben just 70 seconds into the first period, assisted by Colin MacDougall. The X-Men quickly responded at 5:23 when Matt Cato, with help from Ryan McGuire and Charlie Callaghan, tied the game. Both teams continued to test the goaltenders, with Carter Richardson for Dalhousie and Jack Milner for StFX making several saves. Despite a late power play opportunity for the X-Men, the period ended with the score level at 1–1.
Ryan McGuire opened the scoring in the second period for StFX with a power-play goal at 2:27, assisted by Logan O'Neil and Charlie Callaghan, tying the game at 1–1. Dalhousie responded at 8:59 when Jonah Jelley, assisted by Carter Murchison and Luke Johnston, found the back of the net to even the score at 2–2. The teams continued to exchange goals as Callaghan scored twice for the X-Men, first at 11:28 and then at 16:14, while Owen Kindree answered for Dalhousie at 13:23 to keep it close at 3–3. McGuire sealed the period for StFX with his second goal at 18:33, assisted by O'Neil and Drew Maddigan, giving StFX a 5–3 lead heading into the final period.
The X-Men capitalized on a power play opportunity to extend their lead to 6–3 at 12:09 of the third period, with Logan O'Neil scoring off an assist from Logan Chisholm. Dalhousie generated several shots throughout the period, including multiple attempts by Brody Fournier, but Milner remained solid in net for StFX, turning away each challenge. Dalhousie had two power play opportunities in the period but failed to convert, as the X-Men's penalty kill held firm. Richardson made numerous saves for Dalhousie, keeping the deficit manageable, but the home team could not find the back of the net. The period concluded with StFX maintaining their three-goal advantage.
Owen Kindree scored one goal on his sole shot, contributing to a strong performance. Jonah Jelley also found the back of the net with his only shot, maintaining pressure on the opposing defense. Nicholas Houben tallied a goal, converting one of his two shots into points. Luke Johnston added two assists and evenly contested the faceoff circle, winning nine of his 18 faceoffs.
The Tigers have the rest of the week off, heading to Acadia on Wednesday to face the Axemen.
