Tigers fall to Aigles Bleus

MONCTON, N.B. — Dalhousie fell to Moncton, 5–2, at Moncton Arena on Friday. The Tigers capitalized on one of their six power-play opportunities but could not overcome the deficit.
The first period began with Moncton taking an early lead at 2:49 when Jeremy D'Astous scored with an assist from Mika Cyr. Dalhousie responded at 6:30, leveling the score through Zak Smith, assisted by Ethan Wongus and Brody Fournier. Despite a power play opportunity for Dalhousie after a penalty on Moncton's Denis Toner, they were unable to capitalize, and the period ended with both teams locked at 1–1. Robbie Forbes made several key saves to keep the score even, as the Aigles Bleus outshot Dalhousie throughout the first period.
Moncton took control in the second period with two key goals. At 6:01, D'Astous opened the scoring with an assist from Cyr, giving the home team a brief lead. Despite several penalties, Dalhousie was unable to capitalize on power plays, keeping Moncton's defense and goaltender Olivier Adam active but unyielding. Jeremie Jacob extended Moncton's lead at 17:29 with a goal assisted by William Basque, ending the period with a 3–1 advantage over Dalhousie.
Jack Harper opened the scoring in the third period for Dalhousie at 10:00, capitalizing on a power-play opportunity with an assist from Jonah Jelley. Moncton responded swiftly, with Cyr finding the back of the net at 14:11 to reclaim the lead. Dalhousie pulled their goalie in a strategic move to equalize, but Moncton's Thomas Pelletier secured the win with an empty-net goal at 18:02, extending the final score to 5-2 in favor of Moncton. Both teams demonstrated strong defensive efforts, with notable saves from goalkeepers Forbes and Adam throughout the period.
Harper contributed significantly with a power-play goal, marking his presence on the scoreboard. Smith added a goal of his own, finishing with four shots on goal to challenge the opposing goaltender. Fournier recorded an assist, demonstrating his playmaking abilities with two shots taken. Jelley also tallied an assist, contributing to the team's offensive efforts.
The Tigers hit the road on Wednesday to face the Acadia Axemen.
