Dalhousie Tigers women's soccer head coach Cindy Tye is pleased to announce the commitment of defender Callie Slightham for the 2026–27 season. Hailing from Toronto, Ontario, Slightham has developed through the North Toronto Nitros system, competing in the OPDL for five years after progressing through the club's competitive programs. This past season, she helped the Nitros reach the Charity Shield semifinals.
An honour roll student every year of high school—and achieving Honour Roll with Distinction in Grade 11—Slightham has been accepted into Dalhousie's Commerce program.
"I chose the Dalhousie Tigers because of the people and the location," says Slightham. "The team's supportive culture and the welcoming atmosphere in Halifax made it feel like the right place for me to grow both on and off the field."
Tye highlights Slightham's potential and alignment with the Tigers' values. "Callie is a composed, intelligent defender who has benefitted from strong development within the OPDL. She demonstrates maturity in her decision-making, a willingness to compete, and a genuine desire to grow. Her work ethic and character stood out through the recruiting process, and we're excited to welcome her into our program."
Slightham is equally enthusiastic about the next step. "I feel really happy and excited about coming to Dalhousie and playing for the Tigers," she says. "It feels like the start of a great new chapter. I'm looking forward to meeting new people, building connections, and growing with the team. I can't wait to experience everything this opportunity has to offer, both on and off the field."
The Tigers continue preparations for the upcoming AUS season as they build toward 2026–27.
