HALIFAX, N.S. — The Dalhousie Tigers secured a decisive 3-1 victory over the UPEI Panthers on Friday night at Wickwire Field, scoring all three goals in the second half.
The Panthers gained an early advantage when Xander Devine scored in the 13th minute, marking his first goal of the season. Dalhousie responded with multiple offensive attempts, including corner kicks by Mohammed Tolba and Woody Bain, but they were unable to convert these opportunities into a goal. Despite a red card issued to UPEI's Kyle St-Jean in the 41st minute, Dalhousie headed into the break trailing 1-0.
Dalhousie capitalized on their momentum in the second half, turning the tide in their favor. Mohammed Wahdan leveled the match at 1-1 in the 69th minute with his first goal of the season. Just two minutes later, Mykeo Parker-Christmas put Dalhousie ahead with a goal assisted by Jack Ellis, who was named the player of the game for his outstanding performance.
The team continued to apply pressure, and in the 77th minute, Joseph Odume extended the lead to 3-1 with a goal assisted by Tolba. Dalhousie maintained their advantage, closing the period with a 3-1 lead, securing a decisive win.
Ellis provided a key assist in the match, contributing to the team's offensive efforts. Wahdan scored a goal, his shot finding the target on his only attempt. Parker-Christmas netted the game-winning goal with his single shot on goal. Odume also added to the scoreline with a goal from his only shot.
The Tigers head to Moncton on Saturday for the regualr season finale, looking to lock up a first round bye for the AUS championship.
