HALIFAX, Nova Scotia — The Dalhousie Tigers secured a decisive 3-0 victory over Mount Allison Mounties under the lights at Wickwire Field on Friday night.
The first half began with Dalhousie demonstrating offensive pressure, highlighted by Mohammed Tolba's goal in the 31st minute, which put the home team in the lead. The home side generated multiple scoring opportunities, including three corner kicks and two shots on goal by Woody Bain, all saved by Mount Allison's goalkeeper, Aidan Chandler. Despite receiving a yellow card, Eliia Abu Al-Shamlat's team maintained their composure, holding a 1-0 advantage at the end of the half.
The second half began with Dalhousie maintaining pressure, as Tolba fired a shot high in the 54th minute. Despite some defensive challenges, goalkeeper Emmett Workman stood firm with crucial saves against Mount Allison. Dalhousie broke the deadlock in the 81st minute when Ben Thompson, who was later named the player of the game, scored with an assist from Bain, followed by a decisive penalty kick by Kyle Lawford, securing a 3-0 victory by the half's end.
Tolba scored a crucial game-winning goal and recorded three shots, two of which were on target. Thompson added to the scoreline with one goal, converting both of his shot attempts on target. Bain contributed an assist while keeping the pressure on the opposing defense with two shots, both of which were on target.
The Tigers return to the field on Sunday when they host the Moncton Aigles Bleus at 3:30pm.
