Dalhousie Tigers men’s hockey head coach Chris Donnelly is pleased to announce the commitment of Matt Green for the 2019-20 season.
A Hammonds Plains, N.S. native, Green was drafted 22nd overall by the Saint John Sea Dogs in 2014 and played four seasons with them. A member of the 2017 Presidents Cup winning team, he played 204 games for Saint John accumulating 37 points. The left-handed forward took his game to the Amherst Ramblers for the 2018-19 season where he scored 17 goals in 23 games.
“I am very excited to join the Dalhousie Tigers,” says Green. “I am looking forward to playing close to home and attending university. It is a great opportunity for myself on and off the ice and I can’t wait to get started.”
The 2018 Saint John Sea Dogs Academic Player of the Year will be working towards a Bachelor of Arts degree while attending Dalhousie.
“Matt is very skilled forward with a strong work ethic,” says Donnelly. “After being selected in the second round of the Quebec Major Junior League, Matt followed up a four-year Saint John Sea Dogs career with the Amherst Ramblers. He was over a point per game player in both the regular season and the playoffs. We are looking forward to Matt’s continued offensive development and bringing his outstanding attitude to our dressing room.”
The Tigers open their season at home when they host StFX on September 25.
