The Dalhousie Tigers men’s basketball head coach Rick Plato is pleased to announce the commitment of Benjamin Gory for the 2020-21 season.
A 6’1 point guard from Mont de Marsan, France, Gory played for Agen Basket in the French National 2 League this past season. Prior to that, he won a national U20 bronze medal with Paris Basketball, where he averaged 13.2 points per game and 43% on his three-point shooting.
Before coming to Dalhousie, Gory attended Missouri State West Plains where he redshirted with the men’s basketball program.
“I am really excited to join the Tigers,” says Gory. “I feel that there is unfinished business from the final last year versus Carleton. My teammates will be hungry to win and I know it will be hard to beat us next season. Coach Plato and this program deserve a national title and I am willing to give it everything for that.”
Gory will be studying management while attending Dalhousie.
“Ben’s addition to the Tigers provides us with solid perimeter shooting in addition to being an excellent playmaker,” says Plato. “His international experience, both in the US and Europe, has prepared him well to make an immediate impact. Ben’s versatility will allow him to play multiple positions and his commitment to playing solid defence makes him a natural fit for our defence-first style of play.”
The Tigers finished the 2019-20 regular season with a 19-1 record, before capturing the AUS championship title and a U SPORTS silver medal.
